About
70% of teens are active on social media daily. I wanted to create this website to showcase the harmful effects of social media, so I designed this site in a way to mock real platforms online. In order to demonstrate how people get stuck in this loop of scrolling on social media, there is no back button. This represents a majority of the population which continues to scroll for long periods of time once they start. I incorporated an advertisement for beauty filters to bring awareness to the fact that many people, especially teens, develop insecurities from unrealistc beauty standards promoted on social media. Posts and advertisements like these not only cause insecurities, but they also lead to other serious issues like depression or even suicide. In the very end of this interactive website, I compiled several quotes from various sources to showcase the harmful effects of social media.
